HSBC ChampionsHello from Singapore!
Well I made it to Singapore on Monday evening, after a really solid start to my season last week in Thailand. I would have to say that last week's first tournament was my most solid start to a season for quite a few years. I don't say this only because I finished T-4 but more because of how I felt mentally and physically on the course. I would have to say, with the exception of Sunday, my ball striking wasn't exceptional but my short game was pretty sharp and mentally I was very good considering I hadn't competed for nearly 3 months. For the most part I was pretty calm and even Saturday when I started my round with 3 straight bogeys, I was able to calm myself and eventually shoot 2 under. So overall I am pleased with how things went for the first week. I am hoping to build on the great start over the next 3 weeks.
This week, we are playing at the Tanah Merah Golf Club, where we have played the previous two years. I played a practice round today and the course is in great condition. I have played pretty well here the past 2 years, so hopefully with a good week last week and feeling good on this course I can continue to build on last week's finish.
As far as sight seeing went, I didn't to do much of that last week. With it being the first tournament and the fact that it was extremely hot, I didn't really feel like doing to much after my rounds were done. I did eat a lot of great Thai food though. Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines...I really think I could eat it everyday! Which actually I just about did last week. Apart from the food being great, it is also SO cheap! Everything in Thailand is quite cheap really. If you are ever looking for a great place to holiday on a budget I would recommend Thailand. When I slow down my playing career, I think I will definitely try to holiday in Thailand. I would love to go to some of the islands there. I have heard they are amazing.
So I am looking forward to getting started again this week. My goal this week is try to attain the same mental calmness that I had last week. With my swing slowly feeling good, if I can get into that great state of mind, I think I could really continue to play some good golf.
Stay tuned......
