2nd off weekHi Everyone
Well another off week this past week. After my great vacation to Italy, I took it easy for most of the week. I cut back on my eating and drinking to get my body back to normal!! I also got back into a little bit of practice, which is always hard to do in Florida at this time of the year. Its really hot and the courses are never really in great shape. So it is hard to be really motivated to practice......but I did and pushed through it and did what I needed to get done. Apart from that I didn't do too much else. I didn't even get out on my boat which was a bit disappointing but will definitely make sure that happens next time I am home.
I did manage to watch a little bit of the PGA Championship. What an amazing finish and of course totally unexpected! I think Tiger has set such a high standard for himself that him not winning on Sunday seemed so out of character. As amazing as he is, he is human and I think really what Sunday showed to me is that I think he was a little tired after playing 3 straight weeks. It had been a few years since he had played that many in a row and for anyone whose never experienced being in contention 3 weeks in a row, it really takes a lot out of you. I think mentally it takes more out of you than if you didn't play well. So in saying that, I really felt he looked a little flat on Sunday and really didn't have that Tiger motivation and drive that you normally see.
So this week is the Solheim Cup in Chicago. I am actually headed up there tomorrow to be there for the weekend. Meg Mallon asked me early in the year if I would be her cart driver for the week. Being such a good friend of mine, I was really touched that she thought to ask me and am really looking forward to spending the weekend with her and watching some really good golf. My prediction for the week is that I think on paper the US team are the favorites to win but.......I think the competition will be closer than some might think. Ultimately if the US team as a whole plays above average they should win. I think the European team has to have everyone playing at close to their best to win. If the Europeans get really hot with their putters early on, I think that will put some pressure on the Americans to step up. I think they will, but not without some nervous moments. So I think the scoreline at the end of Sunday will be 17-11 to the USA but only with a big Sunday rally. I say it is pretty even pegging up till Saturday night.
While I am chauffeuring Meg around the course, I will be keeping a close eye on the last test in the Ashes series. Australia needs only a draw to retain the Ashes from England but I am sure they are going to be gunning for the win. I am excited and nervous...can't wait to see how it plays out. Wish I could watch it!!
Ok so that's about it for this week. Chat again next week.
