G'Day All!

Greetings from Ayr, North Queensland, Australia! I flew home on Sunday night after the last round of the tournament. I am home in Australia for 2 weeks visiting with my family and especially to meet the newest addition to our family, my little niece that my youngest sister Katie gave birth to a month ago. Our family has grown very quickly in the last 3 1/2 years. We went from no little ones running around to now we have four under the age of 4. Both my sisters have had two kids each. Janelle has a girl and a boy and Katie now has two girls. Its always great to come home to see my family but now its even better with my two eldest nieces both knowing who I am and both being very excited to see me! Its a great feeling! So this is where I will be for the first two weeks of what is a five week break from tournament golf.

So last week......first let me tell you, it was SO hot!! Every day was in the high 90's (around 33 degrees C) which was a bit of a shock to the system. I don't think any of us thought it would be that hot last week. The tournament itself, for me, went pretty well. I think most weeks if I say I had three rounds in the 60's that would usually mean I had a pretty good finish if not a chance to win. Shooting 75 in the second round really was disappointing and gave me no chance of winning and even with a solid weekend, I was a few shots out of a top ten. Except for Friday, it was a pretty solid week. I didn't do anything particularly brilliant but nothing was real bad. It was sort of an even keel week where I never got any great forward momentum to give myself a shot at catching the leaders. Shooting 7 under over the weekend was a nice positive way to go into a five week break.

While I am in Ayr, I will do a little bit of practice with my lifelong coach Kelvin Haller. It will be good to do some work with him because we work on stuff that I tend to ignore and usually need to pay more attention to. This break is kind of a tough time to have so long off as I still have 3 tournaments in November to end the year. So even though I am going to enjoy my time off, I will try not to let my mind go into off season mode. Its a good time though to try and fine tune areas that I haven't paid attention to and be in top shape to finish the year off on good note.

Apart from catching up with family and friends over the coming week, the one event that I am really excited to be home for is the Rugby League Grand Final! The team I support, North Queensland Cowboys, aren't in the final unfortunately but it had been 15 years since I've been in the country to even see a final. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to Sydney to see it but just to be able to sit in front of the tele with a group of Aussies will be fun. The final is between Melbourne Storm and the Paramatta Eels. The Storm have been in the finals the past three years. The Eels however are the big underdogs. They were the last team to qualify for the finals run and they haven't won a premiership since the 80's. So it should be a great game.

So that's where I will be for the next week or so.

Cheers,

Karrie
