Shoprite LPGA ClassicHi Everyone
I'm bbaaaackkkkk!! Sorry for the long time between postings. Now that our schedule gets going again, I will have a lot more to update you on so I should be getting on the site a little more often.
So last week.....we were back at the Seaview Resort for the Shoprite Classic. Its good that this tournament came back on schedule last year after a couple of years away. I have always enjoyed this week. I like the golf course, we stay right there at the course which is always convenient and I have a lot of friends that come over for the weekend. It's a really fun atmosphere!
I was really looking forward to playing this past week. It was only our third tournament in a couple of months and quite honestly as much as I loved being home for awhile I was getting sick of practicing and just wanted to play. My practice and preparation for the week went quite well but again I have been a bit bored with practice so I hadn't practiced great but hoped I would step it up once I got going. Waking up for Friday's first round we all found ourselves having to deal with some very strong winds right from the first hole. The tough thing about the wind was that with direction that it was blowing made a lot of holes have strong cross breezes. The fairways are quite tight so it made it quite difficult to drive it in the fairway. I actually did a really good job with that and had quite a good round of 1 under considering the conditions. I gave up a couple of shots late in my round but all in all I was happy with how things went. Starting Saturday, I knew a good round would get me right up there with a chance to win on Sunday. I got off to a good start being 3 under through 5 holes. A double bogey on the 6th stop the momentum and that was really it for the rest of the day. A disappointing round especially with how well I started. So I approached Sunday with mindset of trying to shoot a low one and sneak up into the top ten. I'm not sure what the difference was from one day to the next. I think perhaps I just freed things up a little bit. I played a really solid round, seeing a few putts going in and then capping off the week by holing a 50 yard pitch shot for eagle on 18! That was a fun way to finish the week and with that eagle I shot 65 and snuck into a tie for 8th. So all in all a pretty good week. Hopefully something to build on for this coming week.
This week we are in Springfield,Il for the State Farm LPGA Classic. I have a few things to work on to tidy up from last week but with a little work over the next couple days I hope to raring to go come Thursday. I have enjoyed the change to Panther Creek Golf Course. I have played pretty well there over the last few years. Last year I had a last round rally to finish up there just outside the top 10. So I'm looking to improve on that finish this year.
As for other stuff that's been going on....my sports teams are going well. The Miami Heat are 2-1 up in the NBA Finals! Very happy they hung in there to win last night. Also my Rugby League team at home the North Queensland Cowboys are having a strong season and are looking good to make it into the finals later in the season. Also on the Rugby League front, Queensland got a great win in game one of the State of Origin. The second game is next Wednesday so I'm glad that I will be home in Florida to hopefully see them win the series for the 6th year in a row.
Other than that, just looking forward to a good week here in Springfield. I will fill you in next week on how things go. I want to thank all of my friends who made it to Atlantic City to watch me play last weekend. I had fun...hope you all did as well. Thanks for traveling to see me.
Take care
Karrie
