Number 39!!

Hi everyone,

Well I'm currently sitting on the couch in my hotel room in Rochester, NY. It has been raining all morning and play has been cancelled for the day. It's been a busy week so this gives me a chance to update you on things.

It's been quite an overwhelming week after winning last week at the Shoprite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. Just about everyone on tour has congratulated me which I have really enjoyed and appreciated! And of course I have extra media commitments that I'm not used to anymore. So all of a sudden it's Thursday and I'm finally able to update you on things.

Last week was quite an up and down week emotionally for me. My Grandma took a turn on Wednesday and things didn't look good for a while. I considered flying home Thursday but after talking to Grandma she said to me I wasn't to come home and to win this one for her!! Well I thought that was easier said than done. In all the years that I have played at the Seaview course, I have never really been in contention to win there.

I think what helped was that my coach, Ian Triggs, was there and we were working hard on thing. I think it kept my mind on golf when I was out on the course. I also had a huge group of friends in town. So catching up with all of them kept things light and fun.

The first two days, the conditions were tough and I managed to finish at 1 under. At that point in time, it never really crossed my mind that I had a legitimate chance on Sunday, until the afternoon players on Saturday finished up. I was only 5 behind and not a lot of players were between me and Shan Shan Feng who was at 6 under.

Going into Sunday the conditions were going to be tough again. I realized, while I was warming up, that if I got off to a quick start and closed the gap somewhat that I would be right in there. Well the game plan came together and I was 3 under through 3 and the next time I saw the leader board I was only one behind. I played solidly after that making only one bogey to the rest pars. There were some great par saves in there but I knew I needed to get to 4 under to have a chance. I got to 18 still needing that birdie. I hit a great drive, the first time I'd hit the fairway that week. Took a gamble and hit 3 wood up there which left me 44 yards to the pin. Not my favorite yardage but I managed to hit a great pitch and nervously made the 5 footer! Awesome!! Had to wait a bit for the last group to finish but it was a great feeling to know that I had won again on the LPGA!

It was great to win for my grandma and it was also fun to win in front of so many friends!! We definitely had a good time on Sunday night!!

The only thing else that has happened this week is that Queensland lost the first State of Origin on Wednesday!! Disappointing game for the Maroons, so hopefully the will regroup and get the next game to take it to the third, otherwise it's probably a good thing that I won on Sunday!! There are a lot of New South Welshmen that will be making me pay dearly if the Blues happen to win for the first time in 8 years!!

Anyway, let's hope we get some good weather this week so we can get the tournament done by Sunday night.

Thanks to everyone for sending along their congratulations!! Very much appreciated!!

Karrie
