Evian MastersBonjour All
I had a really good time, as usual, in Evian last week. Great place, great food, the weather was pretty good....and the golf was pretty good too! I had a very solid week on the course last week. I was happy with my whole game for the most part. I hit the ball good from tee to green for the first 3 rounds but struggled a bit with the driver on Sunday. My putting was pretty consistent with my most solid day being Sunday which was good because I didn't hit as many greens. I'm pretty satisfied with finishing 5th last week, although it could have been better, I felt like I did a lot of things good and I think it was a good lead up to our last major of the year, the Ricoh Women's British Open.
As for the winner of the Evian Masters, Ai Miyazato, I was very happy to see her win. It was her first LPGA win and was much deserved. Ai has carried the hopes of all of Japan for many years now, and I think finally she might have some breathing room from that extreme pressure and be able to relax and just play for herself now!
Back to this weeks British Open.....we are playing at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf course. We have played 3 previous Opens here and it is such a great, classic links course. They have had quite a wet summer here, so the course is very green and not playing as fast as it has the other 3 times. Being this green though, I think will make the longer knee high rough much more a chip out situation than a try for the green shot. They have also added some new mounding and bunkers which gives certain shots a little more to think about. The weather also is not supposed to be that great. So I think it will be a very challenging week. One that is going to require a lot of patience, perhaps the sort of mind set that comes with a US Open. I think that my mind set is that par is my friend, to keep my patience with all the conditions and to really trust my feel.
In saying that, I feel good at where my game is and am ready for the challenge ahead. Let's hope this is the week where it all comes together.
Take care
Karrie
