Last Two Events of the YearHi Everyone
Well once again it has been awhile since I last updated you! Not good, I know! I will work on it for next year!
So right now I'm currently at home in Florida. I arrived home on Monday afternoon after just over 2 weeks out of the country. I played in a couple of events, one in Japan and last week in Guadalajara, Mexico.
I headed to Japan a few days earlier than tournament week. I always have a few extra commitments in Japan which keep me busy. I have no problem going over early as Japan is one of my favorite countries to visit. I love the people, really love the food......and well, that's good enough isn't it!? So I arrived at the tournament on Monday evening after a couple busy days. The Mizuno Classic, or the LPGA/JLPGA co-sanctioned event has been going since the 70's and is one of the longest running events on the LPGA schedule. Its a great event and we are really treated well.
The tournament for me went alright. I played fairly well the first 2 days but really never consistent enough to get into contention. I don't know whether I was trying to hard or what the problem was but whatever it was, on Sunday everything went right. I shot a very smooth sailing 65 to finish the tournament at 8 under and T-15. So happy with the finish but really wishing I had played more like that the first 2 days.
So after a really nice week, I left Tokyo on the Monday, headed for Mexico. I arrived in Guadalajara on Monday night, quite exhausted really. It took me the full next 2 days to get over my jet lag and get my body ready to play golf. Its amazing 10-12 years ago, it was nothing for me to travel half way round the world and be raring to go the next day! My body just doesn't recover as quickly. Lol...don't say it...yes I know, I'm getting older!! Not old, but older definitely! My body was talking loud and clear last week! Anyway, by Thursday morning I was feeling fine and was ready to go. I played the first 3 rounds in 9 under par, only recording one bogey. Going back to that last round in Japan, that had meant that I had played 4 rounds in a row with only one bogey over the course of all them. Heading into Sunday, I was 3 shots off the lead and felt pretty good about the day ahead. Well after a very up and down front nine, I had 4 bogeys and 3 birdies, I knew that it wasn't going to be the great day I was hoping for. I still managed to shoot 3 under on the back nine to finish T-10. A solid week, all 4 rounds under par, but really a week that was a "what could have been" week.
So at this point, I am done with tournament play for the year! I have a mix of emotions. I'm always happy when the year comes to end, whether its been a good year or not. I always am excited about having a couple months away from the tour. So I'm happy to be done but disappointed for a couple reasons. The first is because I got off to such a good start this year but after making great progress up to the summer, I didn't really continue on. The last 5 months of the season were quite disappointing. The other reason, is that the last 4 tournaments I played, I really felt like I made great strides in my game, especially with my putting and short game. So I feel like I ran out of tournaments to play in, to see if I could make that breakthrough.
So I'm done! There's no rest for the wicked though! This Friday, I head back to Australia for just over a month. Its quite a bit earlier than I normally head back home, but its my Dad's 60th birthday at the end of November. So there will be a big Webb party at my parents house. So that should be fun and it will be great to be home. I will be down there for just over a month, so I will get to spend some great time with my 3 nieces and nephew. I'm really looking forward to it. I promise to keep you posted on all the fun things that I get up to.
Till then Take care Karrie
