March 21, 2010Hi Everyone -
Well I am back Stateside after 7 weeks away! Of course 5 of those weeks were spent in Australia which was great! But the 4 tournaments in a row in 3 countries was a very hectic and tiring start to my season.
I would have to say, though, that it was quite a successful start to the year! A win, 2 top fives and a top twenty made it a good positive start to my 2010 schedule!
I left Australia a week ago after completing my 4th tournament in a row at the Australian Open in Melbourne. It was a pretty up and down week for me but overall pretty solid. I managed to play my way to a one shot lead with one day to go. I started Sunday's round very positively and was 3 under for the day through 5 holes. I was feeling pretty good about things with a 3 shot lead but I knew there was still a lot of golf left to be played and I didn't want to get ahead of myself. As it turned out, I made 2 bogeys on 6 and 7, which totally stopped the great momentum I had going and from there I never recovered. It was a tough fight to the finish and I never really felt out of it until the 17th hole when I saw that Yani Tseng had made a couple more birdies to none that I had made over those holes. Yani played an unbelievable round to cruise on to win. Although I was pretty disappointed to not be able to produce the goods and win, I knew not to be too hard on myself because I had played consistently well for 4 weeks and ultimately I was happy with my start to the season.
So Monday after the tournament, I traveled back to Florida for a quick week off. It was indeed a very quick week! I didn't achieve a whole lot besides catching up on sleep and trying to rejuvenate my body so I'm ready to go for the next two weeks!!
As I type this blog, I am sitting on a plane headed out to San Diego for the first US staged LPGA event of the year. Its a new event for us so I'm not sure what to expect with the course. I really like the San Diego area so I am looking forward to the week out there. I would love to continue the good form that I've started the year off with and have a good tournament here and take even more confidence into our first major of the year, the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
I feel like I have rested well this week and with 3 good days of practice before Thursday, I should be raring to go!
Take care!
Karrie
