Portland, Canada, Arkansas

Hi everyone,

Yes once again its been a few weeks since I updated all of you.  I want to apologize for not doing it more frequently.  My golf has been pretty disappointing so I haven't had that much to write about.  Anyway, enough excuses, here we go.

So the past few weeks....well the first tournament I went out for was the Safeway Classic in Portland, OR.  I love Portland!  It's one of my favorite places to go play.  It's so beautiful out there at the time of the year we are there!  I know I will definitely spend more time there even after I stop playing tournament golf.  So in saying all those good things about the area, you'd think I play well there?  It hasn't been the case especially at the venue we've played at the last couple years, Pumpkin Ridge.  Both courses there, Witch Hollow and Ghost Creek haven't been all that nice to me.  My result there this year, which I'm not exactly sure of..50 something, is my best finish there since 1997.  It's actually the first cut I've made there since then!!  Not sure what it is.  I like both courses...it just hasn't happened.

So the golf wasn't great but I did enjoy my week out there as usual.  On Wednesday afternoon, I went wine tasting with my caddy Mikey and Lindsay Wright.  We had a great afternoon trying out a few of the wineries in the Willamette Valley.  They have some great Pinot Noirs.  It's where I really appreciated a good Pinot Noir.  So the 3 of us had a great afternoon together away from the course which was fun!  Also I got to spend a bit of time with my friend Christy Bartlett whom I met at Val Skinner's Life event in June.  Christy was such a trooper, out there watching me everyday.  I wish I could have given some more enjoyable golf to watch.  Anyway, we caught up for dinner one night so it was good to spend some time with her.

So it was on to Winnipeg, Canada. CN, the sponsor of the Canadian Open run a really great event.  We play in a different part of Canada every year.  This was my first trip to Winnipeg.  The golf again wasn't too great and I have to say that in a few years I think what I will remember the most is the bizarre weather and the million mosquitoes that carried me all the way back to Florida!!  There was one sad/happy thing going on that week.  My good friend Rachel Hetherington played her last LPGA tournament.  She's had enough travel and being away from Australia.  I'm sad because I will miss having her out on tour but in the same breath I'm happy for her and wish her all the best with whatever she chooses for her future.

So this past week was an off week for us all again.  It was actually quite busy for me. I got home from Canada Monday afternoon and Thursday morning hopped on a flight up to New York City to go to the US Open.  I had never been to the US Open before and had been promising my good mate Rennae Stubbs that I would come watch her one year.  So I went to the tennis for a couple of days.  I got to watch Rennae and her doubles partner Lisa Raymond play and win their first round match. Since then they have won the next 2 matches and hopefully are well on their way to having a great tournament!  I also got to see another Aussie, Sam Stosur, play and win her 2nd round match. She too is still going strong. I watched bits and pieces of other matches as well.  It's really a great venue and during the first week you have the ability to watch a lot of different matches.  I'm definitely glad I made the trip up.  I had a lot of fun!

So now its back on another flight!!  I'm on my way to NW Arkansas to play in this weeks event.  This is my first time to play this event so I'm not sure what to expect.  It's only a 3 rounder so I will have till Friday to learn what I can about the course. Let's hope my great week off carries over to this weeks play!
